Be prepared for lots of butts and boobs and genitals in this post! Just sculptures of course but I thought I’d warn you.
Angry baby – his hand is shiny where everyone touches him
I think we spent just under two days in Oslo in 2014. It was a really short trip anyway – we hit that and Stockholm in one weekend, flying between the two cities. One of the biggest attractions in Oslo is Frogner Park, where you’ll find a large number of sculptures from Gustav Vigeland. Wikipedia says it’s the world’s largest sculpture park by a single artist.
Apologies for the awful quality of photos, it was very overcast that day
I loved the design of this gate
Of course I’m usually only into cute places and art but I like unusual or weird things too so I enjoyed this place. I didn’t bother to look into the meaning of any of the sculptures, although looking back at the photos has made me curious.
The sculptures are all of women, men and children
I have no idea why the man is flinging all these babies around, hopefully it’s just a metaphor
Many of the pieces center around babies, and it doesn’t show them in such a good light! One sculpture has them riding on a weary-looking mother’s back as if she’s a horse, and another depicts a man flinging babies through the air. Certainly unusual!
