I can’t put my finger on exactly why I love Finland. Perhaps it was because I travelled alone there and was more sociable with local friends. I had a more authentic experience rather than just skimming the surface of the culture as a normal tourist. In addition, I found that nature is an important part of Finnish life, which really resonates with my own personal values.
I am a very naughty blogger in that I rarely use a proper camera to take my travel photos. I’m embarrassed to admit that most of the pictures on this blog are taken with my iPhone, or if they look particularly good, then they were most likely taken by my boyfriend. I have an SLR but I am too lazy to carry it around. The point I’m trying to make is that even if you have a crappy camera, all photos of Gruyeres Castle will look spectacular, because that’s just how it is in real life.
I adore Halloween. It’s my favourite holiday. I once dreamed of having a Halloween wedding but I’m a little too subdued for that now. Japan does the “spooky cute” aesthetic better than anywhere else in the world (check out this spooky Halloween plate I had at Q-pot!) so it was always a dream of mine to spend the 31st of October there. Well, that didn’t happen, because I’m at home in Dublin right now. However I did get to spend the first half of October between Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka and luckily Japan was already fully immersed in the Halloween spirit.
