Looking through my photos now, I realise that I have hardly any of the garden itself – I spent most of my time trying to find cute places to pose. As were were in Amsterdam for a big fashion event – “Under the Sea” on Saturday and Sunday – I dressed up for the whole trip.
The highlight of the day (and perhaps my whole time in the Netherlands, apart from seeing my friends) was finding the small Miffy or Nijntje area within the park. I had been upset to miss the “Miffy Art Parade” series of public sculptures throughout the Netherlands and Japan in 2015 but some of them were hiding away in Keukenhof.
If you are ever in the Netherlands during the 7 weeks in which Keukenhof opens, you really must visit. It’s such a beautiful place and gives you that stereotypical Dutch feeling. Although I had explored many Dutch towns previously, I don’t recall ever seeing tulips growing naturally (well, in the ground I mean, obviously they are planted) before.
